It’s always somewhat unsettling when I look through the Facebook profile of someone who had recently ended a relationship.
All the wall-to-wall PDA messages, cutesy couple profile pictures, and everything else that proved to Facebook the couple’s legitimacy — vanished! This often-fine manipulation of the profile’s contents even makes me start to wonder if the person had ever been in such a relationship in the first place.
I feel as if I’m walking through some seemingly perfect suburban town, in which all the residents act super dandy and have wide smiles. But at the same time, it’s really creepy.
Anyway, I suppose it’s socially acceptable in this day and age to doctor one’s Facebook profile in order to fool the world into thinking that everything’s all right.
But to all those who feel the need to do just that: Instead of trying to hide your mistakes, keep your head up, and handle every circumstance gracefully. Because you’re not fooling anyone, honey.
